Ministry of Health confirms name of amalgamated college: College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia

The BC Ministry of Health has confirmed in a Ministerial Order the name of the new multi-profession health regulatory college that will be created when CMTBC and three other existing colleges legally amalgamate on June 28, 2024: College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia.

This is the same name that the Ministry of Health proposed for the amalgamated college in 2023. The Ministry held a consultation period to obtain public feedback on the name, with a deadline of January 12, 2024. Following its review of the feedback, the Ministry has confirmed the originally-proposed name.

The College of Massage Therapists of BC, along with the College of Chiropractors of BC, College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC, and College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC, will legally amalgamate June 28, 2024 to create the new College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia.

The Ministry also confirmed the name of another new multi-profession health regulatory college that will be created when seven other existing colleges legally amalgamate on June 28, 2024: College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.

CMTBC will continue to communicate updates on amalgamation before the June 28, 2024 legal amalgamation date.
